The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday was overshadowed by an assassination attempt against US President Donald Trump. The suspect has since been apprehended and the situation brought under control.
However, a clip from before the shooting has gone viral, with a remark by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt drawing widespread attention for its choice of words.
Speaking to Fox News just before Trump was set to address the gathering, an enthusiastic Leavitt said she was looking forward to the event, adding that “some shots will be fired in the room.”
